In Northern Ostrobothnia, things are done ‘to the nines.’ Just like these Oikia chips, crisps, and snacks. They are delicious, responsible, and overall a true source of pride for their makers. Oikia is a genuinely domestic chip factory. Oikia is part of Fodelia Oyj.

The potatoes used in the production of our potato chips are sourced from local contract farmers. We can proudly mark on each bag of chips whose potatoes we have used in its production. Responsibility is evident in everything we do, from the selection of raw materials and packaging materials to the finished product. Our company also has a BRCGS quality certificate.

The chip factory’s operations began under the name Pyhännän Einestuotanto. Chips were produced using equipment acquired from the homeland of potato chips, the USA. The event made headlines, as it was the first potato chip factory operating in mainland Finland. The hit product of those times was the Grilli-Hippu potato chip.

After Raisio Group became the owner of the company, there were strong years of growth. The market share rose to as high as 30 percent. At that time, potato chips were sold under the brands Hockey Snacks, Fratello, Sorella, and Sport. Over the years, the main focus shifted to the production of private label brands.

The factory transitioned to new, private ownership. Real Snacks Oy was established. The new owners initiated extensive development projects: the factory was expanded, and production lines were modernized. This significantly increased capacity and improved energy efficiency. At the same time, substantial manufacturing collaboration with a domestic private label was started.

The Real Snacks™ brand is being introduced to the snack shelves of Finnish stores. The brand has been built through long-term efforts. The Real Snacks product range includes potato chips, potato snacks, Junior corn puffs for children, and spicy sauces.

Real Snacks becomes Oikia. Why? Chipcause.

The implementation of packaging automation increases production efficiency.
